THE NAIROBI CITY

TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

You can spend your time till almost eternity in the Tsavo West National Park, spread over a very vast area of 20700 sq km with an interesting mixture of extensive plains, steep rocky hills abruptly rising and a few river valleys with their lush green acacia and palm trees. The Park is rolling in a heavy population of elephants-over 20000 roaming-and it is also famous for its lions, which are the descendants of the dreaded man eaters during the construction of the Mombasa-Kampala railway at the end of the last century. The park contains the interesting Mzima springs whose crystal clear fresh waters offer an ideal sanctuary to the crocodiles, hippos and fishes and the ultimate in wild thrill-the underground glass observatory where the tourists can enjoy spine-chilling proximity to the hippos without, of course, the risk of the real physical encounter. The park is, in short, the personification of Kenya’s wild life, besides being endowed with bird life, which is almost a legion, with sunbirds, hornbills, parrot, weavers, starlings, bustards etc., and new avian species are often discovered.
AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

You can have a rich visual treat of the wild life in Amboseli National Park, spread over 392 sq kms and consisting of five basic wildlife habitats. The highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro offers such a majestic visual, that enchanted Ernest Hemmingway, with its sparkling white snow providing a perfect picturesque backdrop to one of Kenya’s most spectacular wild life and a host of plain game-moulding the entire area an ideal paradise for photographers.
ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK

You can spend endless time in Aberdare National Park, which is a virtual fairyland, endowed with awesome beauty in all majesty and a rich wildlife ranging from elephants, rhino, the entire pig family, antelope, lion, leopard, buffalo, all types of monkeys including the spectacular black and white Columbus to the abundant and varied birdlife with sunbirds, white game birds and birds of prey.
MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

You can, no doubt, witness one of the most spectacular wonders of the world-the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra in Masai Mara Game Reserve, spread over 1520 sq kms of unadulterated pristine wilderness with its world famous vast assemblage of assorted predatory animals including the Big 5-lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo- as well as plains’ games and constituting almost a vestigial area in Kenya where one may see the wildlife in the same super abundance as it existed in the days of yore.

The Reserve, with breath-holding vistas, panoramic vast rolling plains and hills of groves of acacia woodlands and thickets of scrub, boasts of the largest population of lions to be found anywhere in Kenya, not to mention the huge herds of Topi, the rare antelope, not seen anywhere else in Kenya, lazying hippos in the water and drowsily sunbathing crocodiles, mouth agape, on the banks.
THE GREAT MIGRATION

The spectacular migration involves a mind-boggling over a million animals, predominantly comprising the Wildebeest, white bearded Gnu, Zebra and Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, and stretches a long distance of 800 kms. The migration commences usually in January in Tanzania, when the available green pastures there are nearly exhausted, and the animals arrive in Masai Mara Reserve in June and stay here for three months till September, where after they commence their return journey to Tanzania.
